Joy and Dennis Holley helped us to create our dream home in Dexter, Michigan. We could not have had a better experience with the home-building process. For several years, we attended the Ann Arbor Showcase of Homes and saw more than ten of the homes that the Holleys had built. We were always struck by the craftsmanship, warmth, and elegance of these homes. In addition, we found the Holleys to be friendly, professional, and passionate about building a “Holley Home.”
As we approached our own project, we found the Holleys to be eager and informative. Before our contract was signed, we discussed a budget. It was helpful to have actual estimates from the contractors for work to be done. This helped us get a very good estimate of our budget. If we had not decided to finish our basement, our project would have come in under budget. Joy and Dennis have been building for so long, they are truly experts in the field. They have excellent contacts as well. For example, they put us in touch with our architect, Scott Koch, who exceeded our expectations.
From the beginning, Tom and I were encouraged to be very involved in our project. There was never an issue that Joy and Dennis were not willing to patiently discuss with us. We appreciated the monthly meetings between the four of us. This helped us get our questions answered and a to-do list formed. It helped to keep us all on the same page. The meetings also allowed us to keep track of our budget.
Throughout the process, we frequently met with Dennis and subcontractors on the jobsite for discussion and decision-making. Having Dennis on site was a great advantage so that he could coordinate the subcontractors and communicate things to us immediately. He also kept the jobsite spotless. The subcontractors were informative, polite, and hard-working and didn’t mind having us on site frequently.
Joy was always available for questions about the budget and for any other concerns to alleviate our occasional feeling of panic (inevitable feelings when building a home). Also, she accompanied me to many of the meetings to pick out things for the house: door hardware, granite countertops, lighting fixtures, and plumbing fixtures, just to name a few. I appreciated her knowledge and design advice. When Joy walked through our evolving worksite, she saw things from a fresh prospective and gave new ideas. For instance, she suggested recapturing part of the oversized fireplace flue to make a built-in desk in my daughter’s room.
Our home was a 2008 Ann Arbor Showcase home and is perfectly fit to the needs of our family. The Holleys helped us to combine the functionality needed for a busy family with the personal touches that make it our dream home. We frequently notice all the unique little features in our home that we collectively designed along the way. There was no doubt that the Holleys took great pride in every aspect of our project.
A Holley home is truly custom from start to finish. I can honestly say that we enjoyed the process of designing and building this home with the Holleys the entire way. We appreciate their honesty, timeliness, desire for perfection and style, and we cannot convey our thanks enough.

We are now in our second Holley home, and though we did not think it possible, this house is even more wonderful than the first you built for us.
When we decided to rebuild, no debate as to which builder we wanted was necessary. In fact, we actually rebuilt on the condition that we could be your repeat customers. Throughout our first experience working with you, we were impressed by your commitment to giving us the highest quality at the greatest economy, your close attention to all details, your ability to find creative and pleasing solutions to every construction dilemma, and your complete integrity.
This second building adventure with you proved equally as satisfying as the first. During the difficult early months we spent deliberating on our architectural plan, you met with us frequently and patiently helped us to sort through our ideas. As the rough-in construction progressed, you often conferred with us on-site. These physical walkthroughs, which you not merely allowed but encouraged, proved invaluable in truly customizing the house and in detecting needed alterations which were not readily apparent just from viewing the blueprints. You even accompanied us on visits to the stained glass maker and the ceramic tile shop, and on multiple trips to the kitchen cabinet store, assisting us with your professional guidance to make the best choices of materials and styles to create the look we wanted.
We can think of no other builder who comes even close to providing the level of personal and professional attention you gave so generously to us, and which we know you extend equally to every one of your clients.
We are twice fortunate, to have had you as our home builder not just once, but on two very special occasions. And while we fully intend to stay put in our current house for a long while, if we ever do entertain building again, there is no doubt that we would want any future residence to be a home built by you.

Dear Dennis and Joy,
